The direct connection of sales channel with the innovative NDC 21.3. version has replaced the GDS (Global Distribution System) model, which has dominated the airline industry for years, and is based on indirect access to the carrier's product. The eSky Group and Finnair finalized the transition process in June 2024.
Integrating directly with Finnair in the NDC 21.3 version is another important step in the strategic cooperation with this carrier, which, thanks to its over 100 years of experience, guarantees the reliability and quality of services for both customers and business partners. People travelling with eSky therefore have full access to the airline's excellent network of connections and rich offer, which makes it easy to search for and book flights at attractive prices and in various formulas – Jakub Bajorski, Chief Product Officer at eSky Group, said.
Thanks to the implementation of NDC 21.3, eSky customers in over 50 countries can easily and intuitively search for and book Finnair flights, planning their trip using all available options. The updated system also ensures better management and presentation of the Finnish carrier's offer on eSky's websites. The availability of so-called fare families, which include services such as baggage allowance, the possibility to change the flight date or return the ticket, as well as other products of this Nordic airline, makes it easier to compare the available options. It also helps to choose the optimal travel solution.
At Finnair, we embrace change and will continue to work towards promoting NDC program as one of the key initiatives in modernizing airline product distribution. We are happy to partner with Esky Group, as a pilot travel agent in building direct integration with the newest IATA NDC schema version 21.3. for the benefit of our joint customers to enhance their booking experience – Tiina Vesterinen, Vice President Commerce and CX Solutions at Finnair.
The cooperation between eSky Group and Finnair is becoming increasingly important in the context of the Scandinavian company's growing presence on the Polish aviation market. In April 2024, this regular airline launched a new connection from Wrocław (7 flights a week), adding it to the existing ones from Warsaw, Krakow and Gdańsk, where the company operates 24, 19 and 10 flights a week, respectively.
On the one hand, closer partnership with Finnair is a big plus for the customer who travels with our platform and can be sure that the range of products presented on the website reflects the full portfolio of services of the Finnish carrier, while prices and flight information are updated in real time. On the other hand, strengthening relations between the companies directly translates into business benefits, and we expect that in the coming years the dynamics of sales of Finnair's offer will grow significantly – Jakub Bajorski, Chief Product Officer at eSky Group, added.
